SAVING POWER TO BE POWERFUL EARTH HOUR OBSERVED BY VIVANTA KATHMANDU
Back in 2004, WWF Australia was alarmed by a study that claimed the stupendous amount of energy wastage caused by the seemingly harmless act of leaving the lights on. Since then, they took it upon themselves to turn off all the non-essential electrical appliances, and now, from individuals to business to entire cities, all have made the stand to switch off.
On 30th March, 2019, the gleaming gem of Jhamsikhel, Vivanta Kathmandu by Taj Hotels took the same stance to turn off all of their lights (apart from those crucial to basic functions of course) and illuminated themselves with solely candles from 20:30 to 21:30, the time Earth Hour is observed throughout the world. In celebration of having made a significant impact, they and their guests bejeweled the sky by flying lanterns from the pool deck on their 10th floor. And to make the ceremony more merry, a light cocktail was hosted for everyone from 20:00 to 21:30. Furthermore, to solidify their commitment towards the environment, they observed a day of zero wastage.
Earth Hour is observed throughout all properties of Taj Hotels. Hence, Vivanta Kathmandu is no exception towards the pledge to make our world a better place to live in.
We often find ourselves talking about how we only have one life. But we fail to realize we also have only one world, without which that one life would make no sense. Thus, with full support and admiration, we applaud Vivanta Kathmandu for making this exemplary step.
