SUAVE, STYLISH BINSON SHRESTHA
Style is a simple way of saying complicated things so being picky about what you wear and being careful about what you express is important if you are someone starting your own clothing line. Binson Shrestha is juggling a lot of things at the moment. He has co-founded a hemp based clothing line called ‘Stemp’ , co founded another company that deals with custom made suits called ‘Suit up’, is one of the Board of Directors of International Club,Sanepa and is also taking preparation classes for his Post- Graduate Studies.
Binson understands the significance of making a statement with his presence and his style is an important asset to achieve that.Especially now that he works he feels it is mandatory to look presentable to maintain the corporate culture. Young, energetic and suave he has managed his roles and looked pretty good while at it.
We discussed more about his style and what makes him different
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START A CLOTHING LINE?
Back in Brooklyn while travelling on the train everyday back and forth from work my friends and I had a lot of time to check different people’s styles. I wanted to create something that was comfortable yet stylish inspired by the everyday hustle of the city.
We started Stemp with basic handicraft items. Since my friends and I were really into fashion, and it so happened to be that my brother’s best friend was a fashion designer, we decided to get things going with a store that provided something stylish but utilizing basic materials.
HOW WOULD YOU DEFINE YOUR STYLE?
You create your own style at least that is what I think. I am into fashion but I am not into trends; the definition of style is what you want it to be. Nepal and New York are different stories, so in New York I used to dress up in the savviest way possible. But here I mostly wear formals.
I like changing how I dress depending on where I am and why I’m there. To be honest, it also depends on how I feel on that particular day.
WHAT IS YOUR PERSONAL FAVORITE ATTIRE?
Lately I have been wearing a lot of suits mostly because I have started working for my father. The situation requires corporate attire so I think for now I favor formals the most. Also I wear suits most of the times to promote my company Suit-up. On a regular basis, when I am wearing casuals, I believe proper combinations are what I go for. Since its summer, I love wearing comfortable shorts and tees.
WHAT ARE THE SHADES OF COLORS AND BRANDS THAT WE CAN FIND IN YOUR CLOSET THE MOST?
Hemp clothes are most abundant in my closet because we are quality testing for Stemp by getting a feel of the products ourselves.
In general, I prefer blue and other bright colors rather than jeans. I like experimenting with bright colors, unlike most guys, so you will find shades of red, maroon, yellow etc. I like to support local brands but I am not specifically brand conscious.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ACCESSORY?
Definitely watches. I am never without one. My current favorite is the one that I am wearing from Armani Exchange.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO SPLURGE ON?
Perfumes. I have been using my all time favorite Davidoff Cool water since ages ago but I experiment with other perfumes too. I love my collection which consists of CK, Davidoff, Bvlgari and Burberry at the moment.
“I AM INTO FASHION BUT I AM NOT INTO TRENDS; THE DEFINITION OF STYLE IS WHAT YOU WANT IT TP BE.”
WHAT DO YOU ALWAYS CARRY WITH YOURSELF?
The basics like my phone, my wallet and laptop. I also have an old school diary which I use as a planner because it helps me be organized. Name one common fashion faux pas.
In my opinion oversized and baggy clothes take away the charm of being a man. I would probably recommend slim fit or body fit to most people because it brings out the suaveness. I would suggest people to #suitup! (See what I did there?)
WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST IN TERMS OF FASHION?
I go through looks on Instagram. I follow a lot of Men’s pages that give out ideas and inspiration on how to dress. The page that I follow the most is Menssuitsdaily.
