It needs food to keep you up and running, and to be precise, that food is carbs. But just like a good petrol in your vehicle will keep its engine in a good your body needs good source of carb to keep you healthy.

Everyone can agree that healthy foods are boring and at times it might make you feel like chewing on cardboard and making your life miserable. THE GOOD
The good carbohydrates may not taste the best, but I assure you that these will make you feel energetic and light all day. Generally, every good carbohydrate is a complex carbohydrate which are made up of fibrous sugar molecules that are strung together in long, complex chains. Which means it will take a long time to breakdown into glucose to produce energy for your body. Complex carbohydrate foods provide vitamins, minerals, and fiber that are important to the health of an individual.
These fibrous whole grain foods produce a steady energy that keeps you feeling full for several hours as compared to other unhealthy foods. The good carbs will prevent your blood from sugar to spike, and crash and gain weight.
Following are the examples of complex carbs:
Starchy complex carbs:
Oat meal |Yams | Brown Rice | Sweet Potatoes | Beans and Lentils | Pumpkins
Fruits:
Grapefruit | Apples | Oranges | Bananas | Grapes | Mango
Vegetables:
Broccoli | Spinach Salad greens | Tomatoes | Peppers (green and red) | Mushrooms | Cucumbers | Carrots

THE BAD
For this article we have chosen simple carbs as the bad carbs. Although they are not as bad as refined carbs, they are not as good as the holy complex carbs when it comes to health. The struggle is real when it comes to us, the Nepalese people, because of the fact that it’s the source of food most of the time. For most of the Nepalese people, in the morning we start our breakfast with white bread, biscuits and the all-time favorite puff. And, throughout the day we survive with rice or beaten
rice, roti, noodles and fast foods, all of which are simple carbs. Simple carbohydrates are the quickest source of energy, as they are very easily digested and cause rapid increase in blood sugar. Hence, when you are stationary the energy or calories which are not used will be stored in your body, which is why most of us have big bellies.
Used correctly, the simple carbs can be of benefit. How? If you ask, then we would suggest you to consume these carbs at small sizes and before work outs.
Some examples of simple carbs are:
Sugar | Brown sugar | White Rice | White bread | Flour | Any bakery items

THE UGLY
These carbs are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Remember the part in Ramayan where Rawan takes the form of a Sadhu to fool Sita to cross the Laxmanrekha. They’re just like that. These comes in good packaging and taste good, and hence fool you into obesity. And if you are wondering what they are, then here is a clue: they always come in plastic bags and their commercials are all over the place. Yes people, we are talking about junk food. Besides junk food, carbs such as samosa, sel roti, pakoda, jerry swari, etc. also comes under the worst carbs that you should avoid. These are the carbs which are fried or cooked in oil or ghee which are in itself fat. Now, imagine the sugar level spiking up with fat in your body which always results to big belly.
These foods have no significant nutritional value and will most likely cause you to gain unhealthy fat and diseases such as high blood pressure and diabetes.
Some of the examples are:
Cookies | Packaged Cakes | Chocolates (milk and white)
All types of dough (puri, doughnut, etc)
All junk foods (Lays, Kurkurey, etc)
