HYATT REGENCY KATHMANDU APPOINTS DEBARYA CHAKRABORTY AS EXECUTIVE CHEF
KATHMANDU (NOVEMBER 25, 2019) – Hyatt Regency Kathmandu is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Debarya Chakraborty as Executive Chef. He brings with him more than 20 years of experience within the food and beverage fraternity, complemented by extensive knowledge in all aspects of F&B management and excellent leadership, multitasking, interpersonal and menu engineering skills.
With a diploma in hotel management from the Institute of Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition, Orissa; Chef Debarya started his career in 1997 at Essex Farms, New Delhi as Trainee Chef De Partie. In 1998, he began his career at Hyatt as Commis at Hyatt Regency Delhi and was promoted to Chef De Partie and then Sous Chef where he had an opportunity for cross exposure at Hyatt Regency Osaka, Japan for 3 months. In 2003, he moved to Hotel Leela Palace, Bangalore as Senior Sous Chef where he had won the prestigious International 5 Star Diamond Award at ITB, Berlin.Chef Debarya then moved to an overseas assignment in Egypt in 2006, as Asian Chef De Cuisine for The Ritz-Carlton, Sharm El Sheikh and then moved to Jordan as Executive Sous Chef for Kempinski Hotel Ishtar. He returned to Hyatt as Executive Sous Chef at Hyatt Regency Trinidad & Tobago in 2010. He took a step further in his career as Executive Chef at Crowne Plaza Resort, Oman in 2012 overseeing all F&B Outlets, Banquets & meeting facilities. From then, until 2018, he gained further experience as Executive Chef at AVANI Sepang Gold Coast Resort, Malaysia, and in his last assignment as Co-founder and Executive Chef at Funite, Kolkata.
