IT’S KICKIN IN SAMYAK UDAS: CARDIO KICK BOXING HIS WAY TO GET RIPPED

2

He is serious about his fitness, so much so that he plans his appointments around his workouts. An active man, with a few years of kickboxing already under his belt, Samyak Udas has always been amongst the fit men of KTM. However, his recent concentration on cardio kickboxing has helped him trim down his mass and he is on his way to a ripped and chiseled body.

“Nowadays, the weighing machine is part of an old school order that is applicable only to extreme cases. The new and real measure is Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Fat percentage; the appropriate question now would be – what is your fat percentage?”

Can you share your experience on trading fat for muscles? How much did you lose or gain?

My optimum transition to a leaner body happened when I started doing high-intensity workouts with a strict manageable diet of whole grains and protein. I was always fluctuating on 78-82 kilos, however, six months into this regime, I am at a constant 72, the ideal weight for my height.

What motivates you to keep on pushing hard?

Results. The better they are, the harder you train to make it better…and the cycle continues.

Summarize Cardio Kickboxing for us.

Cardio kickboxing is often wrongly associated with sparring, kicks, punches, injuries and black eyes only. However, it is actually an hour of intense, result-oriented interval training, cardio and bodyweight exercises, that consist of fun group exercising with a fifteen minute session of controlled pad work, complimented with a five min mixture of cool down stretch yoga and meditation. It’s the complete package.

RESULTS. THE BETTER THEY ARE, THE HARDER YOU TRAIN TO MAKE IT BETTER…AND THE CYCLE CONTINUES.

Give us your take on the use of fat burners and other supplements for losing weights.

Supplements are called supplements because they are supposed to compliment your regular diet. There will be people out there who will make it their primary diet, and it’s something that is not recommended. And one has to work out to be fit; supplements and pills alone are not going to do it for you.

I take whey protein and amino energy, which have made positive contributions to both, my body and workout.

How important is it to select a diet to sculpt a proper body?

It is a must. 70% is food and 30% is your workout. Hence, your workout is only a small part of the solution. A sculpted body needs a well sculpted diet. I make sure I have five to six healthy meals to keep my metabolism in check. I avoid sweet delights, milk, limit my intake of tea and coffee, drink a lot of green tea, abstain from aerated drinks, anything oily and anything white i.e. rice, flour, and etc.. Other than that, my life is pretty average.
